Glisson Vineyards And Winery (A Fabulous Finds Friday Post!)

by bosssanders on February 10, 2012 with 1 comment

My family and I have a new favorite place: Glisson Vineyards and Winery.  To be more specific…their “tasting room” downtown Paducah KY.  With hand-made tiles made by a local artist, the front of the building gives you a hint of the unique experience you will have upon stepping inside.

Rows of locally-made wine line the shelves and for only $5, you can taste each of their 7 wines (and you get a glass to keep!)  From white wines (like their “Chardonnel”) to their “Blackberry” wine (and everything in between) — You are sure to find something you love!

And, if you’re looking for something a little different, the lovely Katie Glisson (owner) would love to mix you up a wine-a-rita – their own spin on “mixed drinks.”

It’s frozen and fabulous!

While their wine is enough to make the stop worthwhile, be sure to check out the local-artists’ work on display.

The goodness doesn’t stop there, though.  You see, the Glissons also have cheese platters, bread and oil, and specialty chocolate trays available.

And… special treats for the youngsters (alcohol-free) called “Minoritas.”

The wine is exceptional, the service is kind and lovely, and the atmosphere is relaxing and upbeat!

I can’t think of a better place to spend my Friday night.  Or, Saturday for that matter…

Want more info?

They are located at:  126 Market House Square, Paducah, KY 42003

They are open Thurs – Saturday Noon – 7pm (sometimes later)

Call them at 1(270) 210-0930  for directions or to find out where else you can find their fabulous wines and inquire about any new promotions or bands/music.

(And if you head out their way, be sure to let them know “Boss Sanders” sent you!)

I'd love it if you stalked me (subscribe to my RSS feed). Thanks for visiting!

FFF: The Traveling Red Dress

by bosssanders on February 3, 2012 with 2 comments

I’ve been drooling over these lovely red dresses over the past week or so — ever since I heard about the “Traveling Red Dress” from the Bloggess.  The idea is that women all over the world circulate these “red dresses” (which, sometimes aren’t dresses at all) to make each other feel beautiful and loved.  Photographers and Hair/Makeup Stylists are giving their talents too – it’s an amazing thing!  And, after each woman has her red-dress-moment, she packs it up and sends it on to make someone else’s day.

I’ve secretly been looking at photographs online of red dresses, wondering which I would choose if I had the chance.  I wonder how much of my story I would share, how much of the pain and raw I would expose just to empower other women…just like me.

I’m not really interested in writing sob stories – because if you look at my face, there’s no sobbing here.  –Not because I haven’t seen my share of pain and tears, but because I refuse to lay down and let it BECOME me.  I refuse to be overtaken.

Maybe I’ll never own a bright red ball gown – it’s something I’d never buy for myself due to the impracticality and price tag of it all – but, that’s not the point.  I adore the spirit of this entire campaign and hope women everywhere will find their own red dress, whatever that dress may be.  I hope they share their story.  I hope they conquer their pain.  I hope they feel beautiful.  I hope they hope.

If you want to search for your own red dress…or, if you’d like to send your own dress or talents to good use for someone else, check out this Facebook page.

And, if you have your own Red Dress Moment you’d like to share, please link up here.  I’d love to see your photos and read your stories!

Young Living (A Fabulous Finds Friday Post)

by bosssanders on January 6, 2012 with 1 comment

This week’s FAB FIND are my Young Living Essential Oils.

They aren’t so much NEW, but they are something I want to share.  I LOVE this brand and the products.

These are definitely not the type of essential oils that are just used to make your room smell good – although they do that, too!  YL oils are 100 percent therapeutic grade (meaning you can ingest them safely).

THIEVES, R.C., and PEPPERMINT are my top 3 favorites for winter time when all of the nasty sickies are being passed around.  My family uses them to help combat sickies and relieve symptoms.  (Although these oils have MANY MORE USES.)

For example, we diffuse THIEVES in our home when one of us is sick or we’ve been around someone who is sick.  It helps kill airborne germs (also kills mold!)  We rub it on the soles of our feet and for the adults, it can be put under our tongues when we have sore throats, etc.

I use PEPPERMINT when I have a sore throat, nasal congestion, fever, or body aches.

R.C. is also a great immune support.

I could probably write a mini-book on just these 3 oils and what they’re good for and what my family personally uses them for.  They are THAT great!  If you have a question on how to use them or where to get them, shoot me an email at bosssanders@gmail.com.  I do have distributor permissions for the product line, so if you’d like to simply go online to order ( https://www.youngliving.com/signup/custType.faces)  and try them out for yourself, just use this number to log in:  1053515

What are some of your FABULOUS FUN FINDS for this week??

Fabulous Finds Friday

Do you ever find a product or place that you absolutely LOVE?  –Something you want to share with the world but don’t necessarily want to write a 250 word description of it?  Maybe it’s a new eyeliner you found… or maybe you found an awesome brand of cloth diapers made by a lesser-known company or individual.  Heck, maybe your just wowed that your dog pooped rainbows in the yard after eating your kids’ crayons!

Or… do you ever wish you knew of a great mascara because yours is being discontinued?  Or, maybe you are looking for a new vacation spot… or money saving tips.

I’ve been in both camps before (and I imagine many of you have too!) – I’ve wanted to share and I’ve wanted to know.  So, with all of that said, I introduce to you:

FABULOUS FINDS FRIDAY!

Each Friday, I’ll post a fab find and invite you to post yours too!  You don’t have to be a blogger to participate, but if you are, you’ll be spreading the word about your own website … so yay!

Okay… So let’s get started!

My Fab Find for today is:

From Daniel’s Tears – a non-profit that brings hope to little ones in Burkina Faso.  Check out the video…

What are your fab finds for this week?
