I swear last week we organized the kitchen. And the week before, our bedroom. I swear, we did. Right now, though? It doesn’t so much look like it. In our room, we have both kind of um…left some things out in “holding” spots. You know, like a box full of things that I’m giving away for a contest (which doesn’t end until May 30)…and, our huge suitcase we have out because we are starting to pack for a 7day trip…and Steven’s military crap. And - in the kitchen? Oh…just random stuff. That and hubs keeps procrastinating on emptying the fridge out (one of his “chores”). But, anyways…the cabinets…at least THOSE are still organized.
So, this week, I’ll be doing a quick backtrack: putting things in the places we made for them. Shouldn’t take but maybe 10 minutes now that they all have places!
AND, in addition to all or the normal upkeep chores (laundry, vacuuming, etc.), we will both be working on the living room/laundry nook (a closet-laundry room off of the living room). When we re-organized the bedroom, I moved laundry baskets back to the laundry room, and have them set up so we now have separate “whites” and “colors” baskets. So…all that’s left?:
-Clean off the top of the washer
-Make a space for all of the detergent that is easy to access
-Clean out and organize the cabinet space, using containers if necessary to give things “boundaries” so they do not topple over each other (and are easy to access).
And, for the Living Room?:
-Move pet carriers OFF of the stair landing and into the garage (AFTER giving them a good cleaning - just to be sure).
-wash and fold throws
-Organize DVDs, consider buying a binder with CD divider pages and storing them in that manner - OR, moving some to the top shelf in the laundry room cabinet 5/12
-Tie up cords behind TV
-Hang Painting
-Organize and Thin out L’s toys that are in the Living Room - she’s not even using the playpen in here right now. It can be folded up and put in her closet until we need it.
-Steven: Backup and Re-format computer
-Ashley: Save all files to back-up cds, Clean off desktop, upload any pictures for scrapbooking (162 of them) to Walmart.com - to be ordered at a later date 5/14
-Ashley: Back everything up on old laptop and save to CD
So, that’s the list for this week. Pretty lightweight, so we don’t go nuts right before we leave. And, guess what…even so, we are SO ahead of the original schedule I posted:
April 20-26: Lorelei’s Room and Closet
April 27-May 3: Master Bedroom and Closets
May 4-10: Dining Room
May 11-17: Kitchen
May 26-31: Laundry “room”
June 1-7: Kitchen (Part II) (For some reason, I thought we’d need 2 weeks in the kitchen)
In fact, since we’re now ahead of schedule, I’m just going to move some stuff around, so that we can get this Project over with…and then start on something more fun. Like Decorating

May 18-25: Nothing. We’ll be in Jamaica.
May 26-31: Hall Closet and Garage
June 8-14: Craft Room
June 15-21: Storage (off of main area w/ duct work)

This list DID go all the way until mid-October, and now…do you see that? Beginning of August! I had given us PLENTY of time…overshooting, really…where we’d only need to spend 10 -30 min a day on organizing. Turns out, we’re better than we thought! Wow. This makes me want to get on with the rest of it so I can start marking more things out
