I’m doing it. I’m tackling my entire house and organizing it. The whole thing. Even the attic.
I’m counting on all of you to keep me accountable on this one. And, I invite anyone else that would like to take this challenge upon themselves.
So, to get started I:
Made a list of every room or area (like hall closets/entryways/laundry area/etc.).
Wrote beside each “area” a number between 1 and 4 which stands for the number of weeks I will allow myself to work on and finish organization in each room. Keep in mind that organization does not mean decorating. Some rooms, like our garage (actually that’s the only room) got a 4. 4 weeks. Would it really take me 4 weeks? No. But, I’m overshooting on some of these to give me leadway in case of events that come up, tragic happenings, sickness, and the fact that I may only have 30 min to an hour extra a day.
Then, I looked at the calender and wrote down week by week which rooms where to be targeted. Some rooms/areas were split up so I could have a change in focus. I started with an easier area (one with some sort of organization already in place) so that I could get my momentum and not be discouraged. I also paid careful attention to other special events/trips on the calender and planned “easier areas” in the time frames where I knew I would be especially busy (and may not have an extra 30 minutes, or would need to lessen the stress load).
SO…here’s my next few weeks worth of dates (this is not the complete listing):
April 20-26: Lorelei’s Room and Closet
April 27-May 3: Master Bedroom and Closets
May 4-10: Dining Room
May 11-17: Kitchen
May 26-31: Laundry “room”
My list goes all the way to mid-October. I’m hoping to finish well before then…but, I’ve given myself that long.
Let me know if you choose to do this challenge along with me. You pick your own pace and post about if you like - I’d love to follow ya!
I'd love it if you stalked me (subscribe to my RSS feed). Thanks for visiting!

Damn, Ash, you’re making me tired just reading about your big tasks!
I’m gonna get around to my big challenge next weekend- my closet. Seriously, it’s a big ol’ disorganized mess. We got the kitchen done this past weekend.
…
lol so much to do, so little time!! Did I mention I planted a garden yesterday…and organized Baby L’s room? lol

I recommend getting a bunch of boxes and be ready with a throw away pile and a give to charity pile. It’s nice to clear out the clutter. Good luck! I think you’ll stay motivated once you see some progress. Not to discourage you, but I pictured my own house and thought about that Dr. Seuss book where that boy was mowing the grass and it grew as fast as he mowed it. As soon as I get one room done and move onto the next, I come back into the room I finished and it is completely undone.

Ah, yes, it won’t be that bad. I’m actually really great at organizing…especially if I have the room and containers to do so. Lucky me, Lorelei has a new shelf that her Mimi bought her, so her room will be pretty easy. Actually, it’s almost done. I just need to take the baby swing out and store it upstairs in the attic. Once EVERYTHING has a place, it’ll be easier to not just dump it. Our house isn’t really that bad but I want to know where EVERYTHING is. lol.

So, I just wondered if it makes you feel good to know that EVERY time I put a piece of trash in the garbage can, I think of you…

You’ve inspired me to get to work on organizing! I haven’t made leaps and bounds yet or anything… but I think that new Bzz Campaign I registered for (Giant Ziploc Bags) shall assist me some.
I did do a major clean-up of the kids’ room. I’m waiting for those ziploc bags so I can organize mine and Cam’s closet. Oh… and hoping I sell a TON of stuff at our yard sale next weekend so I have less to worry about (even though those things I sell are funding a shopping trip for Carter and Xavier summer clothes).
…
oooh I’ve been wanting to do a yard sale, too. I just don’t have but like one table worth of stuff. Haha. Darn.

You’ve inspired me too! I’m going to “borrow” your post and add it to my blog as well…haha! My list is going to be huge since we’ve just been shoving everything downstairs in the basement if I don’t want to see it upstairs
I really don’t want to add it to my list though cause I think my basement is haunted. Seriously, it scares me to go down there by myself. Maybe Shaun can protect me…I hope.
…
Awesomeness!
