Traditions…
Soon, it’ll be Easter Sunday (next Sunday, actually).
Around every holiday, I get my calendar out and we literally start penciling people in.
“Oh, you want Easter Sunday at noon? Sorry, that block is already taken. We can pencil you in around 5pm though. How does that sound? Or, Saturday. Saturday, we have a 9-11am block, 11:30am -2pm, 2:30-5pm, and a 5pm-8pm block.”
I’m not even kidding. Christmas is the worst though.
I never really imagined how crazy it would be to integrate traditions. I mean, Steven and I love the same things, so it’s just appeasing our families. And, don’t get me wrong…we want to be with them…all of them. But, we run out of “holiday time” to do it all.
And, when you have a baby, all bets are off. Everyone wants a piece of “that”.
Easter is actually going to be pretty easy. We’ve worked out a system. I have basically 4 blocks set aside. That’s PLENTY. We have Saturday Early Afternoon, Saturday Evening, Sunday Early Afternoon, and Sunday Evening. Once someone calls and fills it, it’s taken. First come, first serve. Well, sort of. I’m hoping that’s the way it works. Smoothly.
I think it will.
I hope it will.
Welcome back!

Goodness! Sounds like your weekend is going to be jam packed! I know what you mean about relatives and holidays once you have a child. My MIL had a fit because we didn’t bring our newborn baby to see her on Christmas….apparently she forgot how to drive that day…..

I think my family and family-in-law are getting sick of my kids…I only had to pencil in two blocks.
GOOD LUCK!

Looks like you’ve got enough demand to start auctioning slots. “I’ve got “bringing chocolate chip cookies for 2pm” … going once, going twice… oh, we’ve got “big tray of brownies” …”

I feel ya on this one! Xmas is especially hectic for us. Easter…I’m hoping is not too nuts.
I’m going to need some time to rest after all of this birthday party stuff.
Later!

You just described us. Seriously. It’s a logistical nightmare almost every weekend, but holidays are the worst. My husband has TEN brothers and sisters, I have four sisters, my parents are divorced and my husband’s parents live out of town. Good luck making everyone happy!
